End of Semester Comments

School has always come really easily to me. I never had to work exceptionally hard to receive my good grades. However, this english course has challenged me like no other course ever has. I have actually had to work on my papers every night in order to receive my good grade. I spend so much time trying to perfect each essay. I have found out that I prefer informal writing to formal writing. Informal writing allows me to show my creative side and add voice. It is much easier for me to write something that has a personal connection rather than just research. I tend to procrasinate more when writing formal essays than I do when writing informal essays. If I don't enjoy writing the paper I tend to put it off and do the things I do enjoy. I'm not the best writer when under pressure. I like to spend time going over my essays after I am done writing them. If I don't have a lot of time to work on my paper I tend to get stressed out. I think that I generate ideas really well on my own for informal essays, but I like to bounce ideas off of my peers when working on formal essays. I think that I am a good editor when I read my peers' papers, but I am terrible at catching my own errors. I know what I am wanting to say, so I just figure that is what it says. I rely heavily on my peer editors to catch the little mistakes in my papers. Overall I think that my writing has gotten better since the beginning of the year. However, I know that there is still room for improvement in my writing.

Good personal insight--knowing yourself and your weaknesses allows you to compensate for them. I agree--you've gotten better!
