This last semester of Honors English has challenged me even more than the first semester. I have had a 4.0 all throughout my high school career and I am nervous about not being able to pull off an A in this course for this semester. I have worked very hard on my papers this semester, but the research paper was extremely difficult and I did not do that well on it. However, with turning in my corrections and having my last assignments due, I am hoping to maintain my A for this course.
My favorite essay from this semester would have to be the product evaluation.I enjoyed spending time testing my product with my close friend, Krista.We had a good time and I think we made a great team.Krista and I agreed on all of the scales and the testing criteria without any arguments in any of the testing areas.We worked really well together and it showed on our final draft for that essay.My least favorite essay would definitely be the research paper.I hate formal writing and I had a hard time picking my topic in the first place. I ended up changing it three times before I settled on the one I wrote about.Once I finally settled on my topic, I had no idea where to begin with my writing.Eventually I found my path and began writing, but I still didn’t like the way it was going.It was not one of my best essays and I had a very difficult time writing it.
I still prefer informal writing to formal writing, which is one thing that has definitely not changed. I believe that I have gotten better at both types of writing, but I still dread any type of formal essays. I have also become a much better peer editor, even in this last semester.
I can honestly say that I can see a definite difference between my writing at the beginning of the year, and my writing at the end of the year. Overall, I believe that this course has taught me a lot and I definitely feel more prepared for college after completing it. I now feel more confident in my ability to write, even if I'm still not the greatest writer. It is not one of my major strengths, but it is no longer one of my major weaknesses either.Honors English is a great class for seniors to take before entering the real world of college.
