School Board Members’ Biographies terms expire in ( ) Bob Tweedell, President (2011) Born December 7, 1950 in Denver, Colorado. Graduated Arvada West High School 1968. Lifelong Colorado resident. Graduated University of Colorado with B.A. in English 1972. Graduated University of Colorado School of Law 1978. A self-employed attorney since 1979. Bob and his wife, Susan, have two grown sons, Conor and Casey, two grandchildren Callia and Jonah. Current emphasis in his law practice is guardian ad litem work in which he is appointed as guardian ad litem for abused and neglected children in all Delta County dependency and neglect cases. Something interesting about Bob: He was on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier, two days out of Pearl Harbor heading for San Diego, with both of his sons on September 11, 2001. Phone: 970-874-6122 Cheryl Hines, Vice President (2009) Cheryl Hines was raised and attended schools in Delta, graduated from Delta High School and attended Mesa State College. She currently owns and operates in partnership with her husband, Randy, a row crop farming operation. Cheryl and Randy are also sales reps for Pioneer Hi-Bred and are CCAs. They are active in farming organizations and agencies and also in their church. Cheryl currently serves on the FSA committee. They have two sons that graduated from Delta High School. Cheryl is a very interested and active Board member in supporting all students in meeting their full potential. phone : 874-4234 e-mail: rchines@agristar.net Bill Kehmeier, Secretary (2011) Bill Kehmeier was born and raised in Delta County and graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1971. His wife, Cindy, and three children, Jon, Heidi, and Jared, are also graduates of Cedaredge High School. Bill Attended Kansas State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. He taught 8 years in Olathe and during those years he obtained his Masters degree in Educational Administration. He was principal at Swink K-12 School from 1984-1986. He then became principal at Cedaredge High School and was there for 13 years from 1986 to 1999. He spent the next 8 years as principal at Crawford School and retired in 2007. Bill’s biggest joys in life are when he gets to spend time with his 6 grandchildren. She works as the editor of Writers on the Range, an op ed syndicate of High Country News, which covers public land issues in 10 Western states, and also writes a syndicated column called Heard Around the West, purported to be humorous. She is on the State Advisory Board for Gifted and Talented Education. She is also a member of the Southwest Resource Advisory Board to the Bureau of Land Management. Locally, she is a member of Rotary and a group of avid hikers and bikers called Women on the Move. Bob lives on a small orchard near Hotchkiss, Colorado with his wife, Nancy, and two children, Jonathan, who is an exchange student in Germany, and Annie, who attends Delta County Schools. Bob was reared in the foothills west of Denver and attended Jefferson County public schools. He received a B.A. from the University of Colorado in 1968 and a J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 1974. Bob served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 and is a Vietnam veteran. He was Law Clerk to the Honorable Alex M. Fromme on the Kansas Supreme Court from 1974 to 1976 and practiced law as an attorney for 20 years at AT&T, specializing in international regulatory and transactional matters. Bob’s keen interest in all levels of education led him to a term as a Trustee of Washburn Law School and a position in the 1980s as a member of the San Francisco School Volunteers, who sought to employ business assets and ideas to improve California public school educators. As a school board member, Bob seeks to improve education in Delta County and to make the board and school administration more accountable and responsive to parents and citizens.
